The Oxford referencing style is a note citation system developed by the prestigious University of Oxford. It is also sometimes referred to as the documentary-note style. It consists of two elements; footnote citations and a reference list at the end of the document.

Forming Oxford Citations. Covering in-text referencing marks, the use of footnotes and endnotes, and the requirement of an annotated bibliography, the Oxford citation system is considered one of the most thorough and complicated citation systems available.

It has two components: In-text citation: consists of two parts: A superscript number in the text . A note at the bottom of the page (footnote). Notes are numbered sequentially, beginning with 1 in superscript, throughout each article, chapter, or paper. Putting the same number, followed by a citation of your source, at the bottom of the page.
